The twentieth "EU-China Summit" took place on July 16th in Beijing, in the Great Hall of the People. The summit has been an important moment to discuss and promote cooperation between the Sino-European institutions. During the summit, Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang, the President of the European Council Donald Tusk and President of the European Commission JeanClaude Juncker have discussed the possibility of following up and creating new synergies between "One Belt One Road" development strategy (also called "Belt and Road Initiative") and the European Union’s programs, in order to improve Euro-Asian connectivity and mobility and its economic, social, fiscal, financial and environmental sustainability. Other important topics discussed during the summit were the preservation of peace, international security, climate change, energy transition, protection of the terrestrial and marine environment and migration.

"The EU-China Summit is an important moment in the context of diplomatic relations between Europe and the People's Republic of China. EU and China are closer and closer today, and the meeting has confirmed the willingness of both parties, in this particular historical period, to work even more closely to increase institutional, economic and commercial relations with their counterparts", Michele De Gasperis, President of the Istituto Italiano OBOR 意大利一带一路研究机构, has stated. "Our hope", De Gasperis has continued, "is that in this increasingly integrated Sino-European context, and in the joint development of One Belt One Road and other programs, Italy can take a leading role in every sector. We talk especially about maritime and land transport, infrastructures and services, but also about culture and tourism, where Italy and China are leaders in the world. In this respect, our Institute is already working with authorities and companies of both countries".
